Starting from January 1, 2026, a pilot project will be launched in Kyrgyzstan that will grant autonomy to certain medical institutions. This was announced by Acting Minister of Health Kanibek Dosmambetov during a meeting with the staff of the medical center of Osh State University.

As part of this project, about 20 medical organizations will be able to transition to more independent management and financial support.

The management model developed at the Osh State University medical center may serve as the basis for implementing this project. If the pilot phase is successfully completed, the approach will be extended nationwide.

It was previously reported that granting financial autonomy would allow state hospitals to offer paid services that are not included in the package of state guarantees.

Currently, paid services in state clinics are provided in accordance with the price list approved by the Antimonopoly Service. "The revenues are directed towards the purchase of equipment, reagents, and consumables. By the end of 2024, 1 billion 106 million soms were collected, but this amount is insufficient. Prices have not been reviewed for ten years," noted former Minister of Health Erkin Checheybaev.
