The Deputy Minister of Culture appealed to the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh for support
At a meeting of the parliamentary committee in Bishkek, Deputy Minister of Culture Marat Tagaev spoke about possible resistance to the adoption of a bill that proposes adding Kyrgyz subtitles to foreign films.
According to Tagaev, work is currently underway to provide subtitles for foreign films. Changes to the legislation will soon be submitted to parliament; however, as the official noted, they will face opposition. He urged the deputies to support this initiative.
It is also worth noting that in accordance with current legislation, the Ministry of Culture will monitor the content of television programming in the country, requiring that at least 60% of programs be broadcast in the Kyrgyz language.
