The Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan has initiated a proposal to increase fines for violations of the rules for importing goods into the territory of the EAEU. The agency has developed amendments to several legislative acts in the field of tax administration, which are now undergoing public discussion.

If the changes are adopted, fines for importing goods without the necessary documents from the EAEU into Kyrgyzstan may be doubled.

According to the current version of the Code on Administrative Offenses, importing goods without the appropriate documents into Kyrgyzstan results in a fine of 10,000 soms for individuals and 28,000 soms for legal entities.

If the amendments are approved, the fine for individuals may increase to 20,000 soms, while for legal entities it may rise to 65,000 soms.

The main goal of this proposal is to enhance accountability for certain violations in the field of economic activity.

Additionally, fines will also be introduced for improper use of POS terminals and QR payments. Businesses are reminded of the potential liability for operating cashless payment equipment registered to another person or intended for personal use. Repeated violations will be punished with fines of 20,000 soms for individual entrepreneurs and 65,000 soms for legal entities.
