Today, January 13, a meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Local Self-Government, and Regulations of the Jogorku Kenesh took place, during which a draft law on state awards and honorary titles was approved in the first reading.

The initiative belongs to the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers.

As part of the proposed changes, it is planned to exclude the following categories from the system of state awards and honorary titles:

In addition, it is proposed to transfer the authority to establish the Honorary Certificate and the titles "Honored" to the Cabinet of Ministers.

During the discussion, Deputy Gulnara Akimbayeva expressed doubts about the appropriateness of excluding the title "People's Poet of the Kyrgyz Republic".

Deputy Marlen Mamataliyev expressed the opinion that such changes could negatively affect the status of the honorary title "Honored" and noted that the exclusion of the title "People's Poet of the Kyrgyz Republic" is unacceptable.

This viewpoint was supported by Deputy Janarbek Akayev, who emphasized that the exclusion of the title "People's Poet of the Kyrgyz Republic" raises questions about how poets will be able to obtain the status of "People's Writer of the Kyrgyz Republic" in the future.

The committee chairman Kurmankul Zulushyev added that a unified approach to this issue needs to be developed. He believes that instead of selectively excluding certain titles and awards, the existing system of state awards should be completely reviewed and a new one developed.
