In 2025, several important events took place in the energy sector. Among the significant projects are:
Rehabilitation of the Toktogul Hydroelectric Power Station.
The rehabilitation of hydro unit No. 3 was completed as part of the project "Rehabilitation of the Toktogul HPP. Phase No. 3," which allowed for an increase in its capacity by 60 MW. A total of four hydro units at this station were modernized, resulting in an increase in installed capacity by 240 MW, reaching a total capacity of 1,200 MW.
Modernization of the Uch-Kurgan Hydroelectric Power Station.
In 2025, modernization work was carried out on the second hydro unit at the Uch-Kurgan HPP, adding 9 MW to its capacity. The first unit had already been modernized in 2024. As a result, the total capacity of the Uch-Kurgan HPP increased by 18 MW, and modernization of the remaining units is planned for 2026.
Thus, thanks to the upgrade of hydro units at major hydropower stations, the installed capacity in 2025 was additionally increased by 69 MW.
