An informal meeting took place in Almaty, during which Chinara Aitmatova, the granddaughter of the famous writer Chyngyz Aitmatov, presented the anniversary medal of the Issyk-Kul Forum to Olzhas Suleimenov, a well-known Kazakh poet and diplomat, who is celebrating his 90th birthday this year.
Historian Zainidin Kurmanov, who covered this event, noted that the meeting of the two talented individuals could be called a "meeting of two universes" — Aitmatov and Suleimenov. Both writers have made significant contributions to the development of humanistic ideas, connecting literature, science, and politics in their work.
Zainidin Kurmanov added that Suleimenov's works emphasize that the history of civilizations is not just a collection of isolated events, but a complex interaction of cultures and traditions. He highlighted that Suleimenov managed to restore the historical significance of the Turkic world, demonstrating that the Turkic peoples were not mere observers but active participants in the creation of great cultural achievements.
Additionally, Zainidin Kurmanov reported that he became the initiator of Suleimenov's nomination for an international award. "Chinara handed Olzhas Omarovich a copy of my nomination to the Nobel Committee for awarding Suleimenov the Nobel Peace Prize, as well as two books — my monograph 'The First', dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Imanaly Aydarbekov, and the memoirs of my father, Professor of Law Karpak Kurmanov, which recount the history of Kyrgyz-Kazakh brotherhood and friendship," the historian noted.
