
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Kyrgyzstan will be able to provide itself with six out of nine key food products by 2025, including vegetables, melons, potatoes, milk, meat, sugar, and eggs.
At the same time, three types of products, such as grain products, vegetable oil, as well as fruits and berries, continue to be imported into the country.
The Ministry also emphasizes that over the past six years, the level of food self-sufficiency has significantly improved:
- The level of milk self-sufficiency increased from 112% in 2020 to 127.3% in 2025;
- Meat self-sufficiency rose from 63.6% to 85.7%;
- The percentage of self-sufficiency in sugar increased from 15% in 2020 to 82.1%;
- The level of egg self-sufficiency rose from 56.4% to 79.8%;
- Vegetable oil self-sufficiency increased from 34% to 51.7%;
- The self-sufficiency rate for fruits and berries grew from 15% in 2020 to 51.4% in 2025.
