Ministry of Labor of Kyrgyzstan: the number of unemployed has decreased by 22% over the year

There has been a significant decrease in unemployment in Kyrgyzstan — by 22% over the past year, according to information from the Ministry of Labor.

At a recent meeting of the Ministry of Labor, K. Dosmatov, the First Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration, shared positive results from the implementation of state programs achieved in 2025.

The labor market situation has stabilized: the official unemployment rate is 1.4%, which is significantly lower than in previous years (2.9% in 2021, 2.8% in 2022, 2.9% in 2023, and 1.8% in 2024). There are 56.5 thousand unemployed registered in employment services, which is 20% less compared to the same period in 2024 (70.6 thousand). Officially, 38.1 thousand people are classified as unemployed, confirming a 22% decrease in the number of unemployed over the year.

Over the year, 17.5 thousand people were employed, and the number of participants in active programs amounted to 19.8 thousand.

An important direction has been the implementation of the "Internship for Youth" project, aimed at developing professional skills and assisting in the employment of young specialists.

As part of this project, which will operate in 2024–2025, participants in internships in 30 pilot districts and cities are provided with a monthly salary, which has attracted 3 thousand young people.

In 2025, 1,851 people completed their internships, of which 1,332 found jobs.

They are now working in various state and private institutions, holding positions such as cashiers, specialists, social worker assistants, nurses, credit specialists, engineers, economists, HR personnel, massage therapists, hairdressers, auto electricians, and design assistants.
