During his official visit to Turkey, the Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu held a meeting with the country's president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This was reported by the press service of the Kyrgyz parliament.
During the conversation, key aspects of bilateral cooperation and ways to deepen it between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey were discussed. Turgunbek uulu conveyed greetings from President Sadyr Japarov to Erdoğan, emphasizing that close interaction between the leaders of the states serves as the foundation for strengthening friendly relations.
“He noted that the planned state visit of Erdoğan to Kyrgyzstan in 2024 will be an important event, opening a new chapter in the strategic interaction between the two countries. The Chairman also expressed Kyrgyzstan's interest in activating cooperation in all areas and confirmed the parliament's readiness to support the implementation of the agreements reached,” the statement said.
The discussion also touched on issues of cooperation among Turkic-speaking states. Turgunbek uulu mentioned joint activities within the Organization of Turkic States and TurkPA, and also reported plans to hold another TurkPA meeting in Bishkek this year.
“In addition, the Chairman noted that this is his first official visit after being elected to the position, calling it a symbol of the closeness of the two peoples. He proposed ideas for developing trade and economic ties and asked Erdoğan to support the implementation of joint projects,” the press service added.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for his part, expressed confidence that the visit would positively impact bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the importance of brotherly and strategic relations with Kyrgyzstan.
