Clarifications from the President on the Situation with the Resignation of Kamchybek Tashiev

Sadyr Japarov, the President of Kyrgyzstan, provided a detailed explanation of his high-profile resignation of Kamchybek Tashiev, as well as discussions surrounding the "letter of 75 people," in an interview with the National Information Agency Kabar. The head of state noted that his decision to resign the head of the State National Security Committee (GKNB) was made to ensure stability in the country.

Resignation of Tashiev

The president emphasized that in 2021, the people entrusted him with leading the country, and the Constitution places the responsibility for maintaining the unity and integrity of the state on him.

"The interests of the people and the state always come above any positions and personal connections," he added.

Japarov spoke about how tensions began in the Jogorku Kenesh, where some parliamentary groups started to divide their colleagues into "their own" and "others."

"Some groups began to summon deputies and ask whose side they were on: 'Are you with us or with the other side?' Discussions emerged about the 'general's side' and the 'president's side,'" the president shared.

According to him, this division extended beyond the parliament when some elders began gathering signatures for early elections, assuring that everything was coordinated "from above."

The president reported instances of pressure on deputies and officials:

"There were cases of intimidation: 'If you don't switch to our side, you'll have to deal with the general.' If I hadn't taken urgent measures, the split could have reached ordinary citizens. Therefore, I was forced to make such a decision," he explained.

Sadyr Japarov added that before the resignation, he personally contacted Kamchybek Tashiev:

"Before making the decision, I called my friend, explained the situation, and informed him of my decision. I am sure that by acting so quickly, I protected him, as there were 'elders' around him who were distracting him from the right path," the president said.

He also noted that some individuals, using Tashiev's name, attempted to persuade deputies and civil servants to switch "to the general's side." Japarov emphasized that these processes could have intensified if it weren't for his decision. This could have led to a split among civil servants and in society, which in turn would have resulted in conflicts.

Commenting on rumors about the existence of "Japarov's teams" and "Tashiev's teams," the president stated:

"There is no division in personnel appointments. Each appointment undergoes thorough scrutiny."

He also denied rumors of any agreements regarding the terms of the presidency, stating that Kyrgyzstan is a democratic state, and the decision on who will lead the country is made by the people, not a narrow group of individuals.

"Letter of 75 People"

Regarding the "letter of 75 people," Japarov emphasized that investigative actions are currently underway, which will reveal the scale of this matter and the number of participants.

Departure of the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh

Discussing the departure of the parliament speaker, the president noted that he does not consider this decision directly related to the letter. He suggested that Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu may have fallen victim to the influence of these individuals or felt responsible for the division among deputies.

Reform of the GKNB

Additionally, the president announced the reform of the GKNB, emphasizing that the special services must adapt to modern challenges:

"The state is a living organism. The world is changing, and our institutions must also renew themselves."

Responding to possible abuses among law enforcement personnel, Japarov stated that there is no practice of covering up illegal actions in the country. If facts are confirmed, those responsible will be held accountable, as the law is the same for everyone.

Personal Relations with Tashiev

When asked about his personal relationship with Kamchybek Tashiev, the president said:

"Our friendship will remain. My decision was made for the sake of peace, unity, and tranquility of our people."

In conclusion, Sadyr Japarov assured that the fight against corruption and crime will continue, and it is being conducted around the clock.
