Deputy Head of the Ministry of Culture Marat Tagaev proposed to unblock TikTok

The blockage hinders digital entrepreneurship, and Kyrgyz citizens continue to use TikTok via VPN

The issue of unblocking the popular social network TikTok has been raised again in Kyrgyzstan. This initiative was put forward by Marat Tagaev, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy.

During a meeting of the ministry's board on February 19, he noted that it is necessary to reconsider the decision to ban the use of the platform in the country.

In his opinion, despite the blockage, Kyrgyz citizens continue to use TikTok through VPN, which undermines the development of digital entrepreneurship and hinders youth creative projects.

For reference, TikTok is a platform designed for creating and viewing short videos, owned by ByteDance. It became popular due to its entertaining content, trends, and challenges. The service was blocked in April 2024 at the request of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS).
