On February 19, at a meeting of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy, Deputy Minister Marat Tagaev proposed to reconsider the previously made decision to block TikTok in the country. This information was confirmed by representatives of the ministry.

The deputy minister noted that the Center for Monitoring and Research of the Information Environment had been dissolved, and currently, there is no body in the country that could systematically work with social networks and information platforms.

According to him, young people and other citizens continue to use TikTok through VPN services, despite the existing ban. "We ask you to consider our initiative to lift the TikTok ban," he added.

It is worth reminding that the TikTok ban in Kyrgyzstan was introduced in May 2024 at the directive of the State Committee for National Security. Unlike a number of countries, such as the USA and some European states, where the ban on the Chinese social network is justified by data security and user privacy concerns, in Kyrgyzstan, the reason for the ban was stated as "harm to children's health."
