According to the parliamentarian, the increase in tariffs is not a serious problem
Tabyldy Muratbekov, a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, has proposed an initiative to review the tariffs for drinking water consumption in the country.
According to him, the cost of one cubic meter of water may increase by 14.38 soms, bringing the total price to 36.99 soms.
Muratbekov explains this necessity by the existing deep crisis in the water supply sector. Current tariffs do not cover the actual costs of water supply, making it difficult for regional water utilities to invest in network modernization. He emphasizes that in some regions, the infrastructure is in critical condition, and the lack of funding hinders any attempts at its renewal.
Although the proposed increase in tariffs is noticeable, the deputy believes that it will not place a significant burden on citizens' budgets. As an example, he cites the cost of bottled water: a liter of such water costs more than 25 soms, while the price of a cubic meter (1000 liters) of tap water, even after the increase, will remain significantly lower.
The final decision on this issue will be made after consultations with the relevant government authorities.
