Emergency at the "Batken Munai" Mine: Two Dead, 19 Injured

A serious accident occurred at a mine in the Batken region, claiming the lives of two people.

According to information provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations on March 8, the incident took place at the mine of the company "Batken Munay," located in the village of Samarkandek in the Batken district. A report of a gas leak and three trapped workers was received by emergency services on March 7.

To carry out rescue operations, 13 specialists from the mining rescue service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were dispatched to the scene. At a depth of 200 meters, they managed to find three men. Unfortunately, two of them died—their bodies were brought to the surface and handed over to law enforcement agencies. The third victim was brought to the surface conscious and handed over to the ambulance team.

In addition, 18 employees of "Batken Munay" sought medical attention at the Batken district hospital with signs of carbon monoxide poisoning. Doctors currently assess their condition as satisfactory.

After completing the search operations, rescuers installed a protective barrier at a depth of 40 meters and then returned to their bases.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the founder and director of "Batken Munay" is Gayipov Kamaldin Babaevich.
