Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have created a company called AlterEgo, which has introduced an innovative wearable device for recognizing silent speech.

This device, designed to be worn on the ears, captures the neuromuscular impulses that occur when a person is preparing to speak words. The technology has already been compared to telepathy, although the device cannot read thoughts.

AlterEgo detects subtle signals sent by the speech system at the moment when a person is about to speak but has not yet voiced the words aloud.

The Silent Sense system, built into the device, distinguishes between various types of activity, from normal speech to the slightest muscle contractions that occur during internal dialogue.

With AlterEgo, it is possible to have silent conversations, instantly translate phrases, and control electronic devices without uttering words. This ensures privacy in public places where personal information should not be voiced.

However, the question of the ethics of using technologies that become intermediaries in human communication arises.

The creators emphasize: the device does not read thoughts; it only responds to intentional signals from the speech system when a person wants to say something.

The technology is considered one of the most intriguing in the world of wearable devices in recent times.
