During the inspection of the water intake 'Orto-Alysh', the Mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, noted that work on cleaning the recharge lakes and filling them continues. According to the city administration, this project is of great importance, as about 40% of the capital's population receives drinking water from this source.
The city leader emphasized the need to strengthen efforts to ensure stable water supply for residents, especially during the summer period.
Currently, work is also underway to prepare for the creation of the 12th recharge lake, which will help stabilize the underground aquifers used for water supply. These works are planned to be completed by the end of the year.
After the inspection, the mayor instructed to check the legality of the objects located near the water intake, as well as to develop support plans for them and to intensify work on creating a new recharge lake. It is worth noting that the area of the water intake is a strategically important site.
