Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov, the head of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), stated in an interview with the AKIpress agency that the discussion on the creation of an Investigative Committee, which will operate independently, is still at an initial stage. He emphasized that there are currently no plans to deprive the GKNB of its powers in the fight against corruption and economic crimes.
“The issue of creating an independent Investigative Committee is currently under analysis by a special group working under the President's Administration. I have no information on the timelines for its establishment. Furthermore, it should be noted that attempts to undermine the reputation of the special services through information leaks have no legal basis and are aimed at destroying trust in state institutions,” he added.
