In Osh, an Indian student was detained on suspicion of fraud involving 3 million soms

In Osh, a student from India was detained for defrauding her compatriots out of a significant amount, according to information from the city's police press service.

City police officers, conducting an operational preventive operation called "Illegal," detained a citizen of India, born in 2002. The girl, suspected of large-scale fraud, has been placed in a temporary detention facility.

During the initial investigative activities, it was revealed that K.M., a student at one of Osh's universities, was engaged in fraud by collecting large sums in Indian rupees from her compatriots with the promise of exchanging them for dollars.

At present, nine citizens of India have filed complaints against her.

According to them, the minimum amount of damage was 35,000 soms (in equivalent), while the maximum amount reached 243,000 soms. In total, the overall material damage exceeded 3 million soms.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 209 ("Fraud") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, and investigative actions are ongoing.
