On March 9, a working meeting was held at the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, chaired by Minister Damir Osmonov. The main focus of the meeting was on analyzing the work of the anesthesiology and resuscitation service in 2025 and plans for its further development.

Yzyldyz Derkembaeva, the chief freelance specialist in anesthesiology and resuscitation, candidate of medical sciences, and associate professor, presented a report. She provided key performance indicators of the service, staffing levels, the state of medical facility equipment, and the main problems faced by specialists.

According to the department's information, there are 538 anesthesiologists-resuscitators and 1161 nurses working in the republic. The country has 733 hospital beds in anesthesiology, resuscitation, and intensive care units. In 2025, over 105,000 anesthetics were performed during surgical operations and medical procedures, and 95,733 patients were treated in resuscitation and intensive care units.

The meeting discussed that the anesthesiology and resuscitation service occupies an important place in the healthcare system, ensuring the operation of operating rooms and the treatment of patients in critical conditions, as well as providing emergency medical assistance.

However, the participants highlighted several serious problems. In particular, there was a noted shortage of specialists, especially in remote areas, a high workload on existing doctors, and the need to improve staff training and the system of continuous education.

Attention was also drawn to the state of medical equipment. Some facilities have modern machines, but some require repairs or are not used due to a lack of consumables and insufficient staff training.

Issues of improving the efficiency of monitoring the work of resuscitation departments, enhancing the reporting system, and technical maintenance of medical equipment were also discussed.

Minister Damir Osmonov emphasized that the development of the anesthesiology and resuscitation service is a priority in the healthcare system, as it is responsible for treating the most complex patients and supporting the functioning of surgical assistance.

Following the meeting, the minister issued directives to the relevant departments: to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the staffing of the anesthesiology and resuscitation service by regions and prepare proposals for improving the qualifications of specialists; to ensure control over the effective use of high technologies in medical institutions; and to strengthen the monitoring of the work of resuscitation and intensive care units.
