A court trial took place in Tashkent regarding 21-year-old Shahrizoda Madaminova, who represented Uzbekistan for the first time at the international Miss Earth-2025 contest.
According to Podrobno.uz, the girl was found guilty of violating the norms of legislation on state symbols due to her choice of costume design for the contest.
The competition took place on October 28, 2022, in Manila (Philippines) and was organized with the support of the UN to draw attention to environmental issues. Madaminova appeared on the runway in a dress adorned with elements of the state flag and coat of arms of Uzbekistan. Later, photographs from the contest became a topic of discussion on social media, leading to intervention by law enforcement agencies.
During the court proceedings, Shahrizoda explained that her national costume was inspired by state symbolism, but the design was stylized. She noted that key elements of the flag, such as the white crescent and twelve stars, were not used. Her outfit only featured characteristic colors and outlines of the coat of arms.
The girl asked the court to consider mitigating circumstances in her case.
According to the court's decision issued on January 19, 2026, in the Mirabad district, Shahrizoda was found guilty of violating part 1 of Article 203-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (Violation of legislation on state symbols). She was fined 2 BRV, amounting to 824,000 sums (approximately $69).
The title of Miss Earth-2025 was awarded to 21-year-old model from the Czech Republic, Natali Pushkinova.
