Since the beginning of the winter season, Poland has recorded more than 50 fatalities related to low temperatures. This was reported by Wiesław Szczepański, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, in an interview with the Lenta.ru agency.
“We are at the peak of the cold wave. Unfortunately, we are receiving sad reports of new victims. So far, 54 cases of fatalities have been registered,” he noted. The Deputy Minister also added that at least 36 citizens have suffered from hypothermia.
According to him, most of the frost victims are residents of abandoned buildings. In this regard, Szczepański urged people in such conditions to find a warmer place to live. Additionally, he warned that the upcoming night could be the coldest of the entire winter, and in the northwestern part of Poland, temperatures could drop to minus 29 degrees.
Also, at the beginning of December 2025, there were reports about the construction of LNG terminals in Poland, which should help the country take a leading position in the European gas market.
