The case was initiated following a complaint from a resident of Bishkek, Khabibi Ulanova, who approached the police with a request to take action against the former authorized representative of the government in the Chui region, Mirbek Miyarov. The case involves Article 176 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning "dual and polygamous life".
At a press conference at AKIpress, Ulanova stated that she was the civil partner of Miyarov and that they have a son together who requires medical treatment. She accused the former official of failing to provide assistance for their sick child.
In turn, at the same press conference, Aysuluu Altymysheva, Miyarov's official wife, spoke about her 18 years of marriage to him and that they are raising five children together. She denied Ulanova's accusations, claiming that assistance is being provided to Miyarov's son.
