A law enforcement officer in the Talas region has been arrested on charges of fraud involving the funds of a Turkish citizen. This was reported by the State National Security Service of Kyrgyzstan (GKNB).
According to the information received, in April 2025, the operational officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, E.M.A., managed to gain the trust of the foreign investor H.K. and received $35,500 from him. He proposed a joint project to the businessman for planting and cultivating valuable plants from the nightshade family, with subsequent export of the produced goods to Turkey. It is specified that the cost of one kilogram of seeds is approximately $3,000.
After receiving the specified amount, the suspect, according to the GKNB, illegally appropriated this money.
In October 2025, the investor filed a complaint with the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the fraud; however, according to the GKNB, a decision was made to refuse to initiate a criminal case without conducting the necessary checks.
On January 27, 2026, the Turkish citizen again contacted the GKNB, and as a result, the previously collected materials were sent to the investigative authorities.
On February 24, 2026, the suspect was detained in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Kyrgyzstan and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Talas city police department.
The GKNB emphasizes that work continues to protect the rights of investors and hold officials accountable for violations in the field of entrepreneurship.
