The area around the landfill in Bishkek is planned to be developed as an industrial zone

In a recent podcast organized by the Kabar agency, the mayor of Kyrgyzstan's capital, Aibek Junushaliev, discussed the situation with residential developments located near the landfill.
He noted that currently these residential areas are illegal and cannot be included in the land amnesty program, as they are located in a sanitary protection zone.

“Reducing the sanitary zone will pave the way for the legalization of housing. However, the priority of the city administration is to transform this area into a full-fledged industrial zone,” he added.

Additionally, Junushaliev mentioned that if the "garbage mountain" is completely eliminated, conditions suitable for living in this area may arise in the future.
