A deputy proposes amendments to migration legislation
During a session of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Dastan Bekeshev raised a problem that arose after the cancellation of the visa run in 2024, affecting many citizens of Kazakhstan who can no longer enter Kyrgyzstan.
He noted that as a result of this restriction, many families have been separated: wives who are citizens of Kazakhstan cannot come to their husbands in Kyrgyzstan, and children with Kazakh citizenship also face difficulties crossing the border. Students are experiencing similar problems, which complicates their studies.
It should be reminded that in 2024, a law was adopted in Kyrgyzstan that abolished the visa run — a mechanism that allowed foreigners to leave the country and immediately return to extend their stay. Now entry is only possible within strictly defined time frames, creating serious obstacles for many.
“I understand that similar laws exist in Kazakhstan, but we must consider the human aspect. We cannot allow families to fall apart because of legislation,” said Dastan Bekeshev.
In light of the above, he proposed to resume discussions on this law and make the necessary amendments to mitigate the consequences of the cancellation of the visa run.
