According to him, Bishkek, which has a population of about 1.5 million residents, is facing a serious shortage of school places, leading to a situation where the number of students significantly exceeds the design capacity.
- In the Sverdlovsk district, which has 35 schools, there are actually 66,747 children studying, while the design capacity is only 29,732 students.
- The Pervomaisky district, with 27 educational institutions, is supposed to accommodate 20,962 children, but in reality, 58,000 study here.
- In the Oktyabrsky district, where there are 22 schools designed for 23,021 students, the actual number of students is 44,788.
- The Lenin district, which has 36 educational institutions, has a design capacity of 30,402 places, but in fact, 91,000 children are studying there.
These data were presented in the context of discussing the agreement between Kyrgyzstan and the Saudi Development Fund for the implementation of the second phase of the "Construction of State Schools" project.
Under the terms of this agreement, the republic is allocated 50 million dollars for a period of 25 years at an interest rate of 1.5%. This funding will be used for the construction of five new schools in Bishkek and seven additional buildings for existing institutions, as well as two new schools in the Chui region.
As part of the first phase of this project, 28 schools and 2 kindergartens have already been built in the country.
Parliament members approved the draft law on the ratification of the agreement in the first reading.
