As of January 28, 2025, temporary measures regarding the import of animals and animal products from India have been implemented in Kyrgyzstan. This decision was made by the Veterinary Service for Animal Husbandry, Pastures, and Feed in response to reported cases of the Nipah virus, as stated by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The measures taken aim to protect the veterinary and sanitary safety of the country.

The Nipah virus is a dangerous zoonotic infection that can be transmitted from animals to humans. In this regard, the Service urges citizens not to purchase products of unclear origin and to pay attention to the presence of veterinary accompanying documents.

The situation is under close monitoring by the Veterinary Service for Animal Husbandry, Pastures, and Feed.
