Licensing of passenger transportation by cars in the Kyrgyz Republic began on September 12, 2025. As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on December 3, 2025, a decree from the Cabinet of Ministers was published, extending the deadline for obtaining a license to February 1, 2026.
Despite repeated recommendations for drivers about the necessity of timely licensing, the number of licenses remained low as of December 2025.
Currently, in several regions of the country, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is conducting licensing in an intensified mode. More than 8,000 individuals and 300 legal entities have already received licenses.
In response to citizens' requests, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has decided to extend the taxi licensing period until July 1, 2026.
At present, licenses for taxi transportation are being issued in all structural divisions of the Main Department for Road Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
