In 2025, Kyrgyzstan faced a serious problem with the increasing number of road traffic accidents. This alarming data was provided by the Main Department for Law Enforcement Monitoring and Information Technology in the field of legal statistics of the General Prosecutor's Office. According to statistics, 8,456 road traffic accidents were registered in the republic, which is 19.1% higher than the figures for 2024.
The highest accident rates were recorded in the following regions:
- Bishkek — 27% of the total number of accidents;
- Chui Region — 13%;
- Osh Region — 24%;
- Jalal-Abad Region — 23%.
- more than 12,000 people were injured, which is 16.1% more compared to the previous year;
- the number of fatalities reached 900, an increase of 21.1%;
- there is particular concern about the rise in accidents involving minors:
- 2,200 such incidents were registered, which is 23.7% more than in 2024;
- 121 children became victims of accidents (an increase of 22%);
- about 2,600 children were injured (an increase of 24%).
Experts from supervisory authorities emphasize that these facts highlight the need to strengthen preventive measures, improve discipline among drivers, and pay special attention to road safety, especially in large cities and regions with high accident rates.
