The number of pensioners in Kyrgyzstan has increased by 60% over 17 years: Women make up the majority

As of 2024, there are 846,222 registered pensioners in the country.

This data was presented by the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, based on information from the Social Fund and other government agencies dealing with pension issues.

For comparison, in 2007, the number of pensioners was 528,719. Thus, over 17 years, the number of pensioners has increased by 317,503 people, which corresponds to a growth of 60%.

Women make up the majority among pensioners: 534,815 (63.2%) women compared to 311,407 (36.8%) men.

The largest number of pensioners is concentrated in the Osh region (157,289), Jalal-Abad region (153,103), and Bishkek (143,160).

The most significant growth is observed in Bishkek and Osh, where the number of pensioners has increased by 94% and 81%, respectively, over the specified period.

In most regions, women constitute the majority among pensioners, with the highest share being 67% in the city of Osh.
