
At a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, the director of the General Consulate of Kyrgyzstan in Novosibirsk, Aibek Aydarbekov, reported that there are 1256 citizens of Kyrgyzstan in correctional institutions of the Russian Federation.
Of this number, 143 people are held in correctional institutions in Novosibirsk.
Diplomatic representatives are actively interacting with the convicted compatriots: meetings have already taken place with 138 citizens, during which explanatory work was conducted. However, meetings with 43 citizens located in Omsk and the Altai Territory have not yet occurred.
According to available statistics, over 50% of the crimes committed are related to the illegal drug trade. Other offenses include robbery, theft, rape, fraud, and religious extremism.
In 2025, 131 citizens of Kyrgyzstan were released from places of detention. Of these, 90 people received certificates for returning to their homeland, issued by the consulate.
In addition, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan carried out work on extradition, as a result of which 61 citizens returned to their homeland.
