A vivid example of this was the situation that occurred this autumn in the mountains of the Chui region.
“In the summer, a family of badgers settled near our apiary. In the autumn, we decided to train our young Laika to hunt badgers and set out in the twilight to search for them. We quickly found the badgers, but they were not going to give up. The first to attack were the badgers themselves, as if warning us that they were not afraid of danger. In the end, our dog preferred not to take the risk and avoided a confrontation with these brave animals,” said sports hunter Nikolai Radchenko.
Ecologist Alexander Sosnovsky added that the badger is often referred to as the younger brother of the bear. This strong and powerful animal has long claws and sharp teeth, and its size is comparable to that of a dog.
“Some of the badgers caught in the Chui region weighed up to 30 kilograms. Hunting these animals in Kyrgyzstan is permitted from September 14 to December 15, 2024, with a hunting license and seasonal permit,” he noted.
