
An international Quran recitation contest took place in Jeddah, where Kyrgyzstani Mukhamadali Umarov took first place, as reported by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the muftiate, this event was organized in honor of the month of Ramadan and gathered more than 2000 reciters from around the world, of which 64 participants made it to the finals.
As a result of the competition, Umarov was recognized as the best and awarded a cash prize of 50,000 Saudi riyals, which is approximately 13,000 US dollars.
The top five participants included:
- Kyrgyzstan;
- USA;
- Egypt;
- Syria;
- Sweden.
It is worth noting that in 2022 he also became the winner of the international Quran recitation contest held in Mecca.
