Amateur runner from Kyrgyzstan, Zhyrgal Toktoshev, participated in the major marathon that took place in Tokyo on March 1.

Toktoshev completed the distance of 42 kilometers and 195 meters with a personal record of 2 hours, 53 minutes, and 32 seconds.

Two other representatives from Kyrgyzstan also participated in this marathon: Aibek Jalalov and Bakhtiyar Ganiev.

Now Zhyrgal has completed four major marathons out of a possible seven. Last year, he already ran majors in Berlin, New York, and Chicago.

To receive the special "six-star" medal, he only needs to complete marathons in Boston and London.

In 2025, the list of major marathons will include Sydney, participation in which will provide an opportunity to earn a seven-star medal.

According to information on the official Abbott World Marathon Majors website, only one person from Kyrgyzstan has received the "canonical six-star" medal by completing marathons in Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York.
