Bazarkorgon (Kyrgyz: Базар-Коргон) is a village in the Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan, the administrative center of the Bazarkorgon district and at the same time the center of the Bazarkorgon rural district. The village is located 673 km from Bishkek, on the strategic M41 highway connecting the capital of the country with the city of Osh, 35 km from the regional center to the northwest of the city of Jalal-Abad at an altitude of 1200 meters. It borders the Andijan region of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The literal translation of the village's name is "Fortified market" or "Market in the fortress".

From 1924 to 1991, the village was named Bazarkurgan.

The Bazarkorgon district is an administrative-territorial unit in the west of Kyrgyzstan, established in the 1930s. Its territory stretches from north to south along the basin of the Kara-Unkur River and the Babash-Atat ridge of the Western Tien Shan mountain system.

Population
The ethnic composition includes Kyrgyz, Uighurs, Turks, Uzbeks, and Russians.

Uzbeks make up 26,774 people (66%) of the population, Kyrgyz 11,431 people (31%), and other ethnic groups account for 3%. As of 2016, the village had a population of 38,618 people.

Ethnic conflicts periodically arise here. In particular, in the early 1990s, the overwhelming majority of the Russian-speaking population was forced to leave this region. In June 2010, interethnic clashes occurred in the village between Kyrgyz and Uzbeks. After the riots in southern Kyrgyzstan, many residents of the village moved to the Russian Federation.

A total of 142,951 people live in nine rural districts and settlements of the Bazarkorgon district.

The local population is predominantly engaged in agriculture, with livestock farming playing a dominant role. Agriculture prevails in the valleys and plains.

The district is attractive for tourism in terms of trekking, rafting, hunting, horseback tourism, as well as studying geology, archaeology, flora, and fauna. The poor condition of the roads does not allow the tourism sector to reach the desired level. Some tourist companies and firms in the Bazarkorgon district cooperate with international tour operators. The direction of tourism and recreation in this area is appealing to foreign investors.
Bazarkorgon Village

The main direction of development in this area is mountain-recreational tourism. The production enterprises in Bazarkorgon are involved in the processing of raw cotton, the production and sale of cotton fiber and cotton oil. There are 14 bank branches and a financial fund operating in the village. Organizations in Bazarkorgon include the employment management office, and the medical institutions in Bazarkorgon include a children's rehabilitation center.

A large market operates in the village.
