As clarified by the agency, in 2025, the total electricity consumption reached 10.4 trillion kilowatt-hours, which is 5% more compared to the previous year.

Thus, China became the first country in the world to surpass the mark of 10 trillion kilowatt-hours in annual consumption, which is more than twice the corresponding figures of the USA and exceeds the total electricity consumption of the EU, Russia, India, and Japan.

This increase in electricity consumption is associated with the rapidly developing high-tech manufacturing in the country, which has become the main driver of demand for electricity.

According to the relevant agency, by the end of November last year, China had registered over 19.32 million charging stations for electric vehicles, which is 52% more than in the same period of 2024.
