At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on industrial policy, transport, fuel and energy complex, architecture, and construction, held today, Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov announced plans for the commissioning of small hydropower plants in Kyrgyzstan in 2025. The total capacity of the new facilities will be about 120 MW.

He noted that the last commissioned station was the Kara-Kul HPP, which has a capacity of 18 megawatts. The event was attended by President Sadyr Japarov.

“This year, small hydropower plants with capacities of 12, 7, 5, and 1.5 megawatts have also started operating. Thus, in 2025, hydropower plants with a total capacity of over 100 megawatts will be put into operation. According to forecasts, in 2026, it is planned to commission an even greater number of hydropower plants,” he added.

In addition, Rysbekov reported that the state will purchase electricity from small hydropower plants at a fixed price of 4 soms 42 tyiyns per 1 kWh for a period of 15 years. After the end of this period, the tariffs will be subject to revision.
