In the last five years, there has been active attention to the development of agriculture in Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Zhanibek Kerimaliev, at a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with agricultural policy, environmental protection, and other important issues.
According to him, the loan program with an interest rate of 3% for the agricultural sector is unique, as such conditions were not previously provided.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that this is significant support for farmers and peasants. There are 185 breeding farms operating in the country, and as a result of monitoring, those engaged in breeding pedigree animals, such as "Arashan," "Ala-Too," and "Merino," were identified. These farms have been included in a special list to assist in increasing livestock numbers. Currently, there are 134 thousand pedigree sheep of the "Merino" breed in Kyrgyzstan.
Kerimaliev also reported that 6 billion soms have been allocated for the implementation of the project on breeding pedigree animals.
"We are working together with 'Aiyl Bank' and 'Eldik Bank' to finance the purchase of pedigree animals from abroad to improve their numbers," he added.
