The U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan has announced that it is important for applicants for B1/B2 visas not to make the visa bond payment in advance.

The consular section noted that payment instructions will be provided only after the interview, if the applicant meets the established requirements. All funds transferred before the interview are non-refundable.

After the interview, applicants will be sent a direct link for payment through Pay.gov, which must be completed within 30 days. The pilot program allows for the issuance of a visa for up to three months, and entry into the U.S. is only possible through certain checkpoints. The bond will be refunded automatically after returning to the home country, provided that the visa requirements are met (including no illegal work and timely departure).

It is worth noting that the administration of Donald Trump previously introduced a new requirement whereby citizens of Kyrgyzstan applying for B1/B2 visas may be required to pay a visa bond. This rule came into effect on January 21, 2026, as part of the Visa Bond program. The amount of the bond can range from $5,000 to $15,000 and is determined individually based on the results of the interview.

Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan emphasized that paying the bond does not guarantee visa approval, and failure to comply with the conditions may result in the loss of funds. The agency urged citizens to familiarize themselves with the new requirements in advance and to strictly adhere to U.S. visa and immigration regulations.
