In Karakol, on Zhashtyk Street in the Pristan-Przhevalsk area, a fire occurred in a residential building on January 29.

According to information provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic for the Issyk-Kul region, at 18:02, a fire brigade from the Karakol city unit No. 15 arrived at the scene. The final extinguishing of the fire was completed at 20:02.

The fire destroyed the roof of the house with a total area of 70 square meters, including 22 rafters, 100 meters of battens, 40 sheets of asbestos slate, and 30 meters of wooden boards. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported.

As a result of the incident, a large family with four children was left homeless and was temporarily accommodated in a rented apartment.

According to the head of the family, Shamsharbek Seyitbekov, they purchased the house in September for 2 million soms. He and his wife are raising three daughters and one son. After the incident, the family temporarily stayed near their home—in a trailer belonging to neighbors. Currently, local authorities have helped them find an apartment.

“It is presumed that the fire started from the chimney of the stove. At the time of the incident, only the children were at home. Thank God, they were not harmed. No one was injured. We are currently removing the burned roof and cleaning the house. We need help with building materials, so we have reached out to the community,” he said.
