A resident of the Batken region, who has not paid alimony since 2017 and accumulated a debt of 500,000 soms, has been sentenced to two years of imprisonment by a court decision. This was reported on February 3 by the Judicial Enforcement Service under the General Prosecutor's Office.

According to the agency, he was previously subjected to probation; however, after a complaint from his ex-wife, the punishment was intensified.

In December 2025, the Internal Affairs Department of the Batken region reported that a 35-year-old resident of the Ak-Turpakskiy ayil district of the Kadamjai region, T.E., had not paid alimony for the maintenance of his children amounting to 474,856 soms, evaded legal responsibility, and went into hiding.

A criminal case has been initiated under part 2 of Article 178 ("Evasion of parents from paying, based on a court decision, funds for the maintenance of a child or adult children who are not capable of work and in need of financial assistance, with the amount of debt having accumulated over a period exceeding 12 months") of the Criminal Code. As a result of operational measures conducted by officers of the village police station named after J. Sadyrov of the Kadamjai District Department of Internal Affairs, T.E. was detained in the city of Kyzyl-Kiya, where he was hiding.
