The Ministry of Natural Resources of Kyrgyzstan Summarized the Results of 2025

The meeting at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic discussed the results of 2025.

During the collegium, the results of the work for 2025 were summarized, and key tasks for 2026 were formulated.

Achievements in the Mining Sector

Over the past five years, reforms have been implemented in the field of subsoil use, and state control has been strengthened. From 2024 to 2025, 8 major projects were launched, and in 2025, 105 licenses were issued for state enterprises. As a result of violations of licensing conditions, 320 licenses were revoked, and currently, 2014 licenses are operational.

Sectoral revenues to the budget over the past 5 years amounted to over 217.9 billion soms, which exceeds previous figures by 3.5 times. In 2025, the budget received a record 65.4 billion soms. Throughout the year, 40 auctions were held, bringing in 105.6 million soms to the budget. Over the past five years, 141 tons of gold have been extracted.

Strategic Importance of "Kumtor"

Since 2021, the "Kumtor" deposit has been under state control. Over five years, the budget received 100.6 billion soms in the form of taxes and mandatory payments. In 2025, the company's net profit amounted to 706 million US dollars, and gold production reached 70 tons with an increase in reserves.

Environmental Initiatives and Climate

To improve air quality, an interdepartmental commission was established, which introduced restrictions on the use of low-quality coal in Bishkek and the Chui region.

With the support of the World Bank, a project worth 50 million US dollars is being implemented, as well as the "Improving Air Quality in the Kyrgyz Republic" project, funded by KOICA with 10 million US dollars. In 2025, concepts for environmental safety and carbon neutrality were approved, and international cooperation was expanded.

Over 1 billion US dollars in investments were attracted to the mining sector.

Control and Biodiversity

In 2025, 5749 violations were recorded, resulting in damage compensation amounting to 143.2 million soms. A state enterprise "Ecooperator" was created, which collected 74 million soms in recycling fees.

As part of the "Zhasyl Muras" program, 8.2 million seedlings were planted, and the ecological corridor "Ak Ilbirs" was established. The population of snow leopards in the country exceeded 500 individuals.

Issyk-Kul and Protected Natural Areas

In Issyk-Kul, 99 raids were conducted, during which illegal fishing nets were removed. Restrictions on the use of plastic products were also introduced.

Protected natural areas were visited by 271 thousand tourists, bringing 37.7 million soms to the budget.

Strengthening the Material and Technical Base

To improve the material and technical base of the ministry, the construction of new administrative buildings has begun, 38 service vehicles have been purchased, along with modern laboratory equipment, drones, camera traps, and field equipment.

Plans for 2026

Following the meeting, tasks for 2026 were identified, including the expansion of geological exploration, strengthening environmental control, deepening digitalization, and implementing climate policy. The ministry will continue its work on the rational use of natural resources and ensuring environmental safety and sustainable development.
