President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov stated in an interview with "Kabar" that some deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh faced pressure related to the name of the "general".
According to him, groups of deputies summoned parliamentarians to clarify "whose side they are on," creating a division between the "general's side" and the "president's side".
Japarov emphasized: "If I had not taken decisive measures in time, it could have affected ordinary citizens, and society could have split into two camps. I have evidence that some deputies and civil servants were threatened on behalf of the 'general'. They were told: 'If you do not join us, you will face the general'."
Furthermore, the president noted that such methods of pressure began to manifest beyond the parliament, where signatures were collected on the streets for early elections, claiming that this was "coordinated at the very top."
