In the country of Kyrgyzstan, a ban has been imposed for eight months on the export of used catalytic converters, as well as the remnants of precious metals, slags, and ash contained in these devices. This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The decree was signed by the Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev.

The main goal of this decision is to protect human health and the environment, as well as to reduce atmospheric pollution caused by vehicle emissions.

A catalytic converter is one of the most valuable components of a vehicle's exhaust system and can account for up to 13% of the total cost of the vehicle. Recently, there has been an increase in cases of theft and voluntary removal of catalytic converters from cars for the purpose of resale and obtaining significant profits.
