
At night in the Indian state of Jharkhand, a tragedy occurred: a crowd of approximately 12 people stormed a house and burned a woman along with her 10-month-old child, accusing her of witchcraft, as reported by Anadolu.
According to information from the BBC, the incident took place in the village of Kudsai, located in the West Singhbhum district. The woman was accused of allegedly being responsible for the death of a local resident and several animals.
It was reported that as a result of this attack, the husband of the deceased sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.
According to law enforcement agencies, four people have been detained in connection with this incident, while the other participants are wanted.
In response to this tragedy, the authorities announced the launch of educational programs aimed at raising awareness about combating violence based on superstitions in rural areas.
Statistics show that in India, from 2000 to 2016, more than 2000 people, mostly women, became victims of violence due to accusations of witchcraft.
