The National Film Studio "Kyrgyzfilm" named after T. Okiev is launching an open competition for screenwriters, aimed at developing scripts for both short and feature films, as well as documentary films of a popular science genre.
According to information from the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic, this competition is being held to form a thematic plan for 2026-2027, in accordance with presidential decree No. 159 and current regulations in the field of cinema.
Among the main directions of the competition are:
- debut films;
- art-house (author) films;
- historical films;
- co-production (joint) projects.
Only legal entities registered in the territory of Kyrgyzstan, including production studios and creative associations, can participate in the screenplay competition. Scripts must be written in the Kyrgyz language and meet the requirements of the "American" format.
The evaluation of the submitted scripts will take place according to ten criteria, including originality of the idea, plot structure, character development, artistic level, compliance with language norms, and authorial uniqueness.
The competition will run from February 24 to July 17, 2026, with the submission deadline set for 18:00.
