In Saudi Arabia, more than 1 thousand citizens of Kyrgyzstan reside permanently, including labor migrants and students. This was reported by Nursultan Orunbaev, the consul of Kyrgyzstan in this country, during an online briefing.
The consul noted that the number of Kyrgyz citizens who arrived for Umrah has exceeded 5 thousand people. Currently, no requests for evacuation have been received.
According to him, most of the pilgrims are located in cities such as Jeddah, Mecca, and Medina. A special headquarters has been organized for them, and the muftiyat, along with the companies that sent them for Umrah, maintain constant contact with the pilgrims.
He also added that the situation in the country remains stable. The airspace of Saudi Arabia is open, although some international airlines have temporarily suspended their flights.
It was previously reported that about 6 thousand Kyrgyz citizens are in Mecca performing the minor pilgrimage (Umrah).
