Askat Alagozov, the press secretary of the head of state, provided the public with a video appeal from the mother of Daniil Azhiev, as well as data from WhatsApp correspondence dating back to January. This came after President Sadyr Japarov publicly stated that the mother of the web cam studio organizer deceived him by taking advantage of his kindness.
The president noted that the woman was able to contact him via messenger and convinced him of her family's critical situation, promising that her son would change his life. After signing the pardon act, Azhiev left the colony by helicopter, which caused significant public discontent.
To clarify questions regarding the communication process, Alagozov provided official explanations:
“In early January, Daniil Azhiev's mother appealed to President Sadyr Japarov with a request for her son's pardon. In response to the doubts that arose on social media about 'how she was able to contact the president's personal number on WhatsApp,' we are publishing the video appeal from Azhiev's mother and a screenshot of the phone number from which the message was sent.”
