The deputy reported that coal reserves in Kyrgyzstan amount to approximately 8 billion tons

- During the meeting of the Committee on Agricultural Policy, Water Resources, Subsoil Use, Ecology, and Environmental Protection, which took place on March 9, 2026, Mahabat Mavlyanova inquired about the volumes of coal consumed by Kyrgyzstan and its citizens.

The Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, as well as the Director of the Kyrgyz Geological Service, Amantur Tursuniyazov, reported that over 4 million tons of coal are extracted annually in the country.
According to him, about 2.5 million tons of coal are used for the needs of citizens and enterprises, while 1.5 million tons are exported.
The deputy noted that according to information from the Ministry of Natural Resources, coal reserves in Kyrgyzstan amount to approximately 8 billion tons.
“How long will these reserves last, and will there be coal left for future generations?” she asked.

In response, Dzhumaev stated that the issue would be addressed.
On that day, information about the activities of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision for 2025 was also discussed.
