- At the meeting on March 9, 2026, Deputy Altynbek Kilychbaev raised the issue of the coal deposit in Kok-Jangak, which has not been exploited since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

He expressed confusion over the lack of initiatives for its development and inquired about the current coal reserves in this area.

The Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, as well as the Director of the Kyrgyz Geological Service, Amantur Tursuniyazov, promised to provide information later.

On the same day, the meeting reviewed the report of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision for 2025.

Note:

According to information posted on the "Kyrgyzkomur" website, the Kok-Jangak deposit is located in the eastern part of the Fergana Valley, in the western foothills of the Fergana Range, between the Kugart and Changetsu rivers in the Suzak district of the Jalal-Abad region.

In the coal-bearing layers, 13 coal seams are identified, of which 4 seams are of industrial significance. The reserves of the deposit were estimated at 44 million tons at the beginning of 2014, while the forecast resources amount to about 12.5 million tons.

The southern part of the deposit, known as the Markai section, has explored coal reserves of 8.8 million tons.
